Mike Pall (http://luajit.org/) joins us to present the inner workings of LuaJIT, a just-in-time (JIT) compiler for the Lua language. This is a hands-on technical workshop plus Q&A session -- no slides, no buzzwords, straight down to the code.

Mike will give us a whirlwind tour through the LuaJIT VM: How to go from a Lua script to machine code in a couple of microseconds. The intricacies of a trace compiler. Optimizations and their effects. How to design a fast FFI. The influence of language design on performance. Basically anything you always wanted to know about dynamic languages and JIT compilers. You're welcome to propose more topics in the comments below.
