A large number of children struggle with maths at school, and many adults will happily admit that they’re bad at maths. Why do people find maths in particular so difficult? Research has shown that maths achievement is underpinned by a variety of different skills, and consequently people can struggle for many different reasons.
In this talk, Dr Lucy Cragg will explore the range of factors that contribute to success in mathematics, including maths specific skills like quantity estimation and conceptual understanding and general thinking skills such as memory and flexible thinking.
