Hands On Session on Developing a MicroBlogging Android App

This is our first meetup and we delve right in into teaching how to develop for Android. We will build be building the Yamba App(Yet Another MicroBlogging App), here is the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.marakana.yamba&hl=en.

We will assume no prior knowledge on Android development, but Java programming basics are necessary.

Here is the session details :

1. Install the tools

2. Designing the UI

3. Discuss Android App Architecture(Activities, Intents)

4. Hands on session (Code the first activity)

5. Deploy to physical device

By the end of the session everyone will have a clear understanding on the tools, setting up the development environment and creating a trivial app. Please bring your laptops, we will provide the sdk and eclipse if its not setup already.
