Runners will navigate a series of 12 obstacles throughout the course while avoiding the zombies.

Before the race, contestants will be given a belt with flags (like touch-footie) that represents health.

“The zombies want to take your flags and maybe eat your brains. If you lose all your health flags, you die. And the zombies win,” the website’s rules state.

Competitors are urged to “use speed, strategy and your intact brains” to make it to the finish line with at least one flag intact on the belt. No flags at the end of the race means no awards.

“There will be a start line, and a finish line, but what happens in between is up to you. There are multiple routes to reach the finish. Choose wisely, or your 5k might turn into a 10k,” the website says.

Pulling, grabbing, pushing or striking of zombies and runners is not permitted.

“At the end of this adventure race, you get to celebrate survival (or zombie transformation) with live entertainment and music, local celebrities, vendors, food, and of course, beer!” the website says.
