Visit Livestock First Ranch near Denison
Details
As most of you know, this summer has been particularly hard on farmers and ranchers. The heat and drought has shortened the growing season of many of the produce growers, and some the grass-fed ranchers have been forced to sell of much of their herd. If you would like to see firsthand the effects of the hot summer, Taylor Cooper, the owner of Livestock First Ranch near Denison, has agreed to open his ranch for a tour on Sunday, Sept. 24 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Taylor, who sells at the Coppell Farmer's Market Saturdays, has been able to hold on to most of his cattle and has managed to keep his chickens and pigs healthy. Learn firsthand what it takes to keep a working ranch viable during a drought. And, youll be able to buy beef, poultry and Berkshire pork during our visit. Livestock First is located down a no-name road near Dominion Farms, according to Taylor. Directions will follow. Be sure to bring a cooler with ice if you plan on buying any meat or chicken.
