Pyramid Peak via Rocky Canyon

The winter season is approaching. Lets get a training hike in to Pyramid Peak via the steep Rocky Canyon Trail. This is a strenuous hike - perhaps one of the best training hikes in the Tahoe region.

The Rocky Canyon route to the summit of Pyramid Peak is probably the greatest vertical climb in the Tahoe Sierra. Starting from a base elevation of 5,900', the route climbs up nearly 4,100' to the blocky summit of Pyramid Peak.

Parking is limited on Hwy 50 so we'll meet at Starbucks on Prairie City Road to carpool.

This is a non-technical climb.

In addition to the ten essentials, hiking poles are advantageous on the descent.
