Dinner and Discussion at Stone Creek

For our August meetup, on Bob MM's recommendation, let's go to Stone Creek Lounge, where we'll have our own room to make for a quiet, but stimulating discussion. Stone Creek offers a variety of standard and reasonably-priced bar fare, in addition to appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and entrees ranging from fish and chips to a healthy chicken platter. And the good news is that Happy Hour is until 7 p.m.

At our last meetup in July, we had a number of excellent proposed topics from the broad category of philosophy. We chose the subject of "forgiveness," but there were several other thought-provoking ideas suggested. Let's choose one of them for our August discussion:

1. The philosphy of love: how do you define "true love"? Why is the most important word in the world so difficult to define? Can we love more than one person at the same time? Are societal rules and expectations hindering our ability to love?

2. We live our lives in three parts: past, present and future. How much emphasis should we put on each?

3. What are the elements of a good life?

4. Who am I?

So ponder these topics, and we'll vote on on August 21st to pick the winner. Looking forward to seeing you there!
