Oracle Digital Assistant - how to build your first chatbots application

Conversational has been on the rise the past couple of years, especially with AI getting exposed through the Cloud. We at Oracle have been investing heavily to get AI incorporated into our solutions and this afternoon, we’re going to focus at Oracles conversational platform called Digital Assistant.

Oracles Digital Assistant makes it possible for you to build your skills (which is what we call a bot) in various languages, analyze the interactions with the end-users and connect it to your backends. The possibility to rely on a master-skill framework makes it possible for you to divide your domain-specific skills into multiple use-cases/areas. The NLP is then intelligent enough to distinguish between them depending on the input, which means that it delegates a task to the relevant skill.

Sounds complex? It is, but not for you! Let me put it this way; if I ask for pizzas, it takes me to the Pizza Skill. If I ask for my bank statement, it takes me to the banking skills. This all happens in the background without me noticing.

Integration is also key and this is another topic of discussion this evening, where we will highlight how you could integrate your chatbot seamlessly to your data using an Autonomous database. Our autonomous database is exactly what it sounds like - autonomous. This means that it is self-maintaining and does not require you to have any specific skills to be able to maintain your databases. Oracle does the patching amongst other tasks for you. An autonomous database takes maximum of 2 minutes to spin up and is now free for you to forever, use if you’re eligible for the free tier!
