OpenStack and Cinder (Block Storage)

Details

The fine folks at Indy Hall have offered up their space. Thanks guys!

Come to the door at 22 N 3rd St, the one with the Indy Hall logo on it.Use the buzzer to the right of the door and dial #001 to be let in. Walk into the space and follow it to the left once the room gets wide. The event space will be on the left.

We’re looking forward to an open discussion with an introduction to the OpenStack block storage service and an opportunity to review and dive in to current features.

We’ll examine the differences between Block and Object storage, including the architecture and plugin model used in Cinder.

Finally we'll consider the importance of features like bootable volumes, multiple back-end configurations and how to expose vendor unique features through volume-types.

We'll try to have a running OpenStack setup with the latest code to show some examples of how to use some of the features we discuss.

Be sure to bring your questions.
