Bios and Abstracts:

Kristi Cunningham, Vice President at Capital One, will talk about Capital One's big data journey and perspectives on diversity. Kristi has been with Capital One for 18 years with 15 years in Tech leading Software Engineering teams, Data Engineering, Data Architecture, and Enterprise Architecture teams. Today, she leads Capital One’s Enterprise Data Management team which is all about their data and data strategy for the company. Prior to Capital One, she led Application Development for other financial services and government related organizations. She holds a BS in Computer Science and MS in Information Systems.

Donna Fernandez, Co-Founder & COO of MetiStream, a local Big Data solutions & services startup, will talk about her journey in starting a Big Data company. She will talk about what inspired her to be an entrepreneur in this highly competitive market and the challenges and recommendations for women in this space. As part of her role at MetiStream, Donna also leads two large Big Data meetups - the Washington DC Spark Interactive and the Big Data Healthcare meetup - so she'll also talk about Spark and healthcare and how women can best get involved and position themselves to capture the opportunities in those specific areas and in the Big Data market in general.
