LEARN ABOUT: Sensors and plant growth
Details
PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF VENUE
From DIY self-watering systems for house plants, through to tightly controlled and monitored growth conditions for precision farming, and the accurate measurement of plant growth parameters for research and crop breeding - sensors and other new technologies offer great opportunities in the area of plant growth!
Join us at this session to learn about how different types of sensors and sensing equipment can be used to track and measure plant growth. Oscar Gonzalez (Quadram Institute) and Ricardo Ramirez Gonzalez (John Innes Centre) will be giving a hands-on demonstration of their ultrasonic ruler for measuring plant height in the field, showing the different sensors used in their setup.
There will also be an opportunity for you to pitch your own growth/sensor challenges if you wish, and there will be plenty of time for discussion of these plant growth challenges in the relaxing environment of the John Innes Centre bar.
If you would like to pitch a plant-growth challenge or idea to the group, please let us know!
All are welcome - experience with plants or sensors not essential.
