7 Stories: First Time

Details
The suggested theme for May is "first time," which can be interpreted in many ways. As always, we are open to stories that do not strictly follow the theme for the month.
**"**This month’s theme brought to mind the courage it takes to do something for the first time such as getting up to tell a story to a live audience. Then I remembered that naivety can also be a factor not to mention outright stupidity. There’s that time I shoplifted because a new friend made it sound exciting. Little did I know that karma would come back to bite me a few years later when cash went missing from the register at my workplace.
There are many reasons we might do something for the first time. The first day of school? Something we go through that might not be our choice. First date? How many of us look back on that as a peak experience that lived up to all the hype? First job? Maybe not the greatest but gave experience to build on. First time living alone? Exhilarating freedom or loneliness?
These are just a few examples, and we look forward to hearing about yours. Was it a good choice? Did things go as you expected? Was it much better than you could have ever imagined? Does it make you cringe to remember it, or are you grateful for the foundation it gave you for life?"
