7 Stories: Karma (suggested theme)
Details
Some thoughts to get you thinking about the month’s suggested theme, “Karma”
Karma at is simplest, good deeds bring good karma in the future and bad deeds bring bad karma or appropriate pay back again in the future… Karma having more immediate consequences may be more of a modern concept as when a friend of mine ‘stole’ my hair clippers.
Late on a Monday afternoon, I got notified of an opportunity for a job interview the next day. I was watching a friend’s house and when I stopped by, I used her hair clippers to give myself a trim ahead of the interview. She had cut my hair in the past and knew she wouldn’t mind if I used them. The next day after the interview, I realized I needed to make some adjustment to my haircut. I stopped by her house, grabbed the clippers and took them home without asking. So technically, I “stole” them. As we all know stealing is wrong and if/when caught results in consequences.
That evening, I pulled out the clippers, affixed the appropriate guard, raised the clippers to my head. The guard came off, but my hand was in motion and I shaved a large chunk of hair from my head. There was no way of recovering other than to shave my entire head. I did my best, but needed to be taken care of professionally the next morning by a barber.
