Details

Do bees have knees?

Let's check it out.

Let's visit a couple of thousand bees in Centreville and learn all about how bees make honey. We will go to an apiary, with over 20 active hives, and see how bees locate and collect nectar from plants, transport it back to their hive, store and process it and, voila, honey. We will also learn about the amazing social organization of the hive, from the Queen Bee to the worker drones and how new bees come to be.

Finally, we have a chance to check out the different types of honey and how the flavors are influenced by the plants from which the nectar is collected.

You can take honey home, to include chunks of honeycomb, the natural hexagon shaped forms upon which bees process the honey. CASH required to buy honey; the bees don't take credit cards.

Conversation, laughs and lunch afterward in our private room at Lezzet Restaurant, 13850 Braddock Rd E, Centreville, VA 20121.
