Waste-to-Energy; laughs, conversation and lunch afterward

Details
Let's go see how your discarded Amazon delivery carton helps charge your phone.
ReWorld is allowing us to tour their Waste to Energy facility in Alexandria.
This thermomechanical treatment plant processes more than 350,000 tons of waste from Alexandria and Arlington each year, that would otherwise end up in the landfill. And, ReWorld Alexandria produces enough electricity in the process to power 15,000 homes for a year. Plus, they recover 10,800 tons of metal for recycling annually, enough to build 9,000 cars.
We will need to wear long pants and quarter-sleeved shirts, along with closed-toe shoes. ReWorld will then dress us up in a hard hat, gloves, and ear plugs for our tour through the plant.
Bring your week's household trash, no more than 500 pounds(!), to contribute to the power grid.
Laughs, conversation and lunch afterward nearby at City Kitchen, 330 S Pickett St, Alexandria, VA 22304.
Thanks to Karen Griffin for suggesting this event.
