Mini-series “Experimenting in the age of never normal”

Details

With COVID, what was normal is not anymore. With the mini-series, we want to give you the opportunity to take some time to reflect and work on one experiment to help you and your team find your new normal.

In the first session, to kick-off the discussion, we will have Storyful sharing with us their journey to find their new normal before splitting into groups to reflect on your journey and identify an experiment for your next step. A week later, we will have a second session to review/discuss your experiment in a safe and supportive environment.

Session 1:

  • Welcome
  • Talk: No other choice than unlearn (Aoife Hannigan, Conor Lonergan, Frederic Oehl)
  • Discussion in small groups
  • Homework for session 2

Facilitators and Speakers:

  • Aoife Hannigan: Aoife is a Lead Software Developer at Storyful in Dublin. She has 6 years experience as a Developer working in many different types of teams and organizations. She has a passion for Front-End Development and is motivated by working with people and seeing them grow.
Currently she is continuing to work on her people management skills in the areas of coaching and mentoring as well as adapting to doing this all remotely!

  • Conor Lonergan: Conor first dived into the world of code when, in his final year assignment for Pulse College's BA Hons in Music Production, he developed a survival horror video game played inside an audiovisual installation that was later a hit at Dublin Fringe Festival 2013. He followed his passion for all things sound and spent 5 years working as an audio editor and reporter for various radio and tv programmes with the likes of BBC, RTE and TV3. Now, with an MSc. in Computer Science under his belt from UCD and some experience in developing Machine Learning web applications, he's putting this variety of experience to good use at Storyful in his current role as a Junior Ruby Developer.

  • Koren Stark: Koren, founder of Agilitysmith in Ireland, is a Business Agility Coach, Certified ICAgile Instructor and an Enterprise Ireland Agile-Lean service provider. At her core she values people, interactions and collaboration which is evident throughout 30+ years multinational industry experience, from start-ups to Fortune 500s, seeking to disrupt their markets with new technology. Koren started her career as a Geologist – instead of rocks, she is now coaching, teaching and facilitating alongside people within organisations to break down barriers to creativity, evolutionary growth & innovation.

  • Frederic Oehl: Frederic started his career as a Software Engineer in small French startup and that’s where, in 2006, he discovered eXtreme Programming and Scrum. Since then he has a passion for Scrum and for enabling people to reach their potential. In each subsequent role, he has helped teams/ organizations in their agile transformation. This includes training and coaching teams, managers and executives. He’s currently working as a Scrum Master for Storyful where he’s coaching the product team.
