World Interaction Design Day - Trust and Responsibility

Details
What does it mean to design for trust? What responsibilities do we have as designers? How do we build trust with our users, stakeholders, and each other?
Please join us on September 24 to discuss these ideas and more at the first meetup of the newly reformed Interaction Design Association Melbourne chapter.
THE SPEAKERS
KAT BAK (Intrepid) - "More than edge cases: The responsibility of designing for and with diversity" (A fireside chat)
In this fireside chat, Milly Schmidt will chat with Kat about designing for and with diversity. As technologists, we are bestowed with a heavy burden of trust and responsibility. Human beings, AKA "users", trust us to fulfil our responsibility to design and build products that are diverse, inclusive and considered. This is especially topical and significant for trans and gender diverse people, and Kat will explain some of the nuances of that.
Kat (they/them) is a non-binary UX designer and diversity and inclusion advocate. They believe in using their skills, experiences and privilege for social change. Definitely not a ninja, rockstar or unicorn.
SOPHIE PARKER & GUILLERMO GRANDA (DesignIt) - "Trusting Invisibility"
In this talk, Sophie & Guille will address "trust" from the point of view of its relationship with transparency, for example, looking at how fostering trust affects design considerations and the challenges facing many of our clients today. They will discuss "responsibility" in regards to the impacts of “invisible” technology (today and into the future), then by opening a discussion around ethics and professional governance in design industries.
Colleagues, Guille Granda & Sophie Parker are both Service Designers at Designit, a strategic design firm with 18 offices around the globe, including Melbourne and Sydney. With complimentary backgrounds and work styles this duo make a dynamic team and love working on complex problems that sit in the intersection of culture, technology and business.

ABOUT WORLD INTERACTION DESIGN DAY
World Interaction Design Day is an annual event where we come together as a united global community to show how interaction design improves the human condition. Our aim is to have a positive, long-lasting impact by facilitating activities that support dialogue and outcomes.
Presented in partnership with Adobe and IxDA, we welcome everyone to contribute by hosting activities for their local communities around the theme for 2019: Trust and Responsibility
https://interactiondesignday.org/
ABOUT IxDA
IxDA was incorporated in 2005 to address the needs of the then-emergent field of interaction design. In the intervening years, interaction design has grown as a industry and an area of study, at the same time the recognition of its value in the creation of great products has grown.
We believe that the human condition is increasingly challenged by poor experiences. IxDA is committed to improving the human condition by advancing the discipline of Interaction Design. To do this, we foster a community of people that choose to come together to support this intention. IxDA relies on individual initiative, contribution, sharing and self-organization as the primary means for us to achieve our goals.
