Potraro Ridge GloryPop Sunset Hike - 4 mile - Rancho Dos Vientos, Newbury Park

Details
http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/d/e/2/8/event_78176872.jpegJoin us for a 4-mile sunset hike on a segment of the Portraro Ridge trail, featuring glorious views of the Dos Vientos valley, Conejo Valley and beyond.
From the parking lot at Dos Vientos Community Park we walk to the trailhead that leads uphill through a wildland ridge nestled between the housing tracts. The trail circles the ridge peak above the neighborhood to render vast 360-degree views of the region.
At the end, there is opportunity to either linger at the great facilities of the community center, or move on to the Boney Mountain Coffee Shop or the sushi restaurant just a few blocks down the street.

This hike is meant for slow hikers and fast talkers. Think of this as a chance to slow down, get some fresh air and exercise.

Preparation: The hike starts just before sunset and should end after sundown, so be prepared for cold and some hiking in the dark. Carry snacks for the mid-hike break or bring what you like for apres-hike at the picnic area. Running shoes or light-duty hiking shoes should be sufficient.
Directions: Find Borchard Rd. in Newbury Park (the western part of Thousand Oaks). From the 101, use either Wendy or Borchard exits. Take Borchard Rd. west up the steep hill until you see the Dos Vientos Community Park (very hard to miss). Park in the north end (right side) of the parking lot by the group parking area where we will gather. You have 10 minutes grace to be late.
