Our rapidly changing world - learning from each other to influence our futures

Details
Venue - please note - we'll be at Central Station as usual (because the combined meeting at Birkbeck has been postponed). We'll start at "6.30 for 6.45" and plan to finish around 9.00, but conversations can continue afterwards, as we don't have to vacate the space until 10.30. We're upstairs, you can bring drinks up from the bar.
We'll look at our rapidly changing world, and explore how we can learn from each other - perhaps collaborating with each other to influence how our futures unfold.
Paul Messer (who scribed for us at the November meeting) is taking the lead during the first half in a way which will give us focus and provide shape to the session. He'll help us to compare our experiences of change. Building on those experiences, we'll discuss the future and how we might shape it.
By the end we are likely to have covered the following (or gone off in other directions in response to the interests of the group):
-
Will the future be "back to things a usual" or "something completely different" (or "something in between") ?
-
How far ahead are we looking? Weeks? Months? Years?
-
What knowledge and experiences do we have as individuals and as a group to support our attempts to picture the future?
-
Can we describe it?
-
Are there any shared hopes or visions (and if so do people want to explore collaboration on moving those hopes forward)?
This is the last meeting of 2011 so we'll include a quick look at plans for Dadamac meetups in 2012 (we've already booked the space for the third Thursdays in January, February and March). A bundle of ideas are emerging (on content and on structure). Given Dadamac meetups are for exploring collaboration and being "stronger together" the meetings should reflect the hopes, needs, ideas and visions of as many people in the group as possible, so if you have thoughts on meetups for 2012 please share them on Friday.
