Frita Batidos - Ann Arbor

"After two visits it's safe to say: Frita Batidos has got what it takes to become an Ann Arbor mainstay. From locally-sourced ingredients to an interesting concept the restaurant is fresh and offers quality food you can't find at other places - not because they're bad but because FB is something different... and that's what it takes to make your mark.

The menu is simple and easy to navigate without a ton of distractions and choices but with enough to satisfy most tastes and needs (ie. veg options). I really like the black bean fritas but plan on also trying the open-faced grilled cheese on a return visit. My two dining companions have had the fish frita (two thumbs up) and the pulled pork (same review). The fries are out of this work and the cilantro lime salsa should not be missed.

Did I mention they have Fresca? You don't see that everywhere.

The Batidos, made with sweet cream milk, honey, ice and fresh fruit are a must. I've had the mocha and cajeta - both were excellent - fresh and light in flavor. My friends have tried the sour orange (tastes like key lime pie) and the coconut cream - really good!

The process is fun and simple - get on line, order your food, head to a picnic table or bar (one by the window, one in the back) and wait for your name to be called. Food comes out wrapped simply without plates or fanfare. Tables contain condiments, a water jug, seasoned salt and limes. If you need seconds it's table service for you.

Definitely a great new addition to an already impressive restaurant selection - we'll be here quite a bit, I'm sure."
