Abstract: According to the CDC, heart failure affects 5.7 million Americans at an annual cost of $30.7 billion. Unplanned hospital re-admissions continue to be a costly and common occurrence, with nearly 1 in 4 patients being readmitted within 30 days of discharge. With the shift to value-based care and a focus on reducing cost and improving quality, many health care providers are turning to technology to help patients with heart failure and other costly chronic conditions better manage from home.

Presenter: Laura Bramschreiber, Vice President of Marketing at GetWellNetwork will share more about GetWell Go, the company’s innovative mobile solution for helping providers improve care transitions, reduce unplanned readmissions and promote greater health outcomes for patients.

National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke

Abstract: What is the "future of virtual reality in medicine" and how we can leverage local infrastructure to support technological innovation in this new world.

Presenter: Dr. Sunbin Song will be speaking about her research at NIH NINDS which focuses on developing virtual reality applications and analytics to assess and restore motor function and motor skills in brain injured populations. She has published several reports investigating interactions between sleep, consciousness, and motor skill learning for over a decade and holds a doctorate in neuroscience from Georgetown University and a bachelors degree in biology from MIT.
