Sad news y'all: I broke my wrist this morning, and it's a complex break that will take up to 6 weeks to heal. So, since Fred and I are kind of carrying the melody, and he doesnt like soloing, I'm once again canceling. I will reschedule when I get out of my cast and can move my fingers again.

:-(

Date change, since too many people can't make it this Saturday. Moved to June 4th, a Tuesday (easier for gig-playing musicians to come).

At our last meeting, we came up with a bit of a framework for what we're going to do. We embrace all acoustic instruments, including home-made ones and ones from non-Western cultures. Our main thing will be to play well-known Star Wars songs as the glue that holds together a group of diverse instruments, and will play them straight for a verse or two but then switch to various different rhythms underneath the recognizable theme. We will start with Egyptian beledi rhythm, which we learned together last time and will be happy to teach newcomers. For melodic instruments, the first song will be "May the Force Be With You" in (concert) G minor. I would love to start moving, even if just playing held notes or scales. We can march down St. Roch Ave. from St. Roch Market towards the Cemetery.

Since there are sure to be other geeky events going on, we will probably head to one or more of those after practice!
