Details
Hello Speculative Futures NYC Family!
We are hosting a Part 2 for our event on 10/10, allowing more time for our community to come together and do planning activities as a group.
Please review the original event description below, as well as the recording for the 10/10 event (posted on #NewYork channel of the Speculative Futures global slack) in preparation for our time together!!!
We have also started a MURAL workspace for us to come together and collaborate on this work. Feel free to leave feedback and ideas prior to the next meeting!

Looking to the Future: Charting a Path Forward Together
We know it has been a while, and we are excited to get back in touch with all of you for a chapter-wide re-engagement and re-alignment meeting!
Since the chapter's inception a few years ago, we haven't had a focused check-in with our members to talk about the chapter's mission, values, focuses, and leadership. In addition, when COVID19 struck, we shifted to a new virtual format and became much more closely connected with our global chapters network through online events and forums, as well as a fully online PRIMER2020.
Given all of these changes, we'd like to kick off a new era for SFNYC by working hand in hand with members to chart a shared vision for the future of our chapter.
Ayo and I have been brainstorming over the summer to come up with some ideas for chapter organization, co-leadership, themes, and goals we might want to explore.
In this meeting:
• We will introduce you to some of the ideas we have for a SFNYC framework, goals, and meeting cadence
• We will collaborate to define core values, themes for exploration, potential outputs with the goal of co-creating a brief "Organization Manifesto" about who we are, what we care about, and how we as the NYC chapter of the global SF community are approaching speculative futures through our own local perspective
• We will have a discussion about how SFNYC members can take more collective ownership of the chapter, including helping source/lead events and workshops, things we want to accomplish together, and what artifacts and platforms might support this
• Discuss what types of partnership we might undertake to connect the diversity of our membership to opportunities for new types of speculation, and spreading the impact of futures thinking and design
We are super excited to work with all of you, and hope you will join us for this important discussion!!!
