Welcome to the Greater Toronto Writing and Walking Club!

Stories are around us. They just have to be captured and molded into our own! There are no original stories, they are all reused over and over again, it's how a basic idea or kernel of a story comes to fruition. Stories are filtered through us and our emotions and experiences, and they come out original. Because we are, our stories are as well!

But ideas are just that. Ideas! Simple two or three word phrases that need to be opened up, and that's where this mini-course comes in.

This event examines the novel and how to tackle the first 90 pages, and the rules of writing within that category. If you have ever thought of writing a novel or novella, short or long format, or just want to get a story out of your system and onto the page, then this mini-retreat is for you!

As we start our adventure, we talk about the basics of the creative process, and our goals, we also discuss characters, settings, development and theme, and plot through imagination and the power of the written word! With exercises to unleash your power, this is a creative writing course in three hours! All centred on the Novel!

This walking tour is for all levels and walkers. Please bring a notebook and pen or laptop.

The event begins at the main doors of the Toronto Reference Library on Yonge Street north of Bloor Street East.

This mini-retreat has a fixed price of $25.00.
