Details

While the Buddha taught about suffering and the end of suffering, he didn't say much directly about racism and the end of racism. Had he lived in our contemporary world, however, that might have been a different story.

IDPoC is a community of people of color who meet on the third Saturday of every month from 5:00 - 6:30pm. As a group of individuals who experience race as a prominent part of our identities, we look to the dharma not only as a path to personal liberation, but also as a support for the challenges we experience in daily life, in the spiritual community (sangha) and beyond. New and experienced practitioners are equally welcomed.
Group meetings include silent meditation practice with instruction, dharma talk by a (PoC) teacher, and open discussion. These meetings are a wonderful way to connect with community around a shared interest in creating an enlightened society, and experiencing personal liberation from struggles such as fear and separation.

IDPoC is organized by IDP teacher Kate Johnson, a graduate of IDP's Year Long Training Program and a student in the Theravadan Buddhist tradition. Other teachers will be included.

This is a drop-in event, and pre-registration is not necessary. We're offering it on a donation basis, and request each participant to contribute between $5 - $10 to support this and other initiatives led by The Interdependence Project. No one with financial difficulties will be turned away.
