Daytona Area Fiction Writers

• What we'll do:

Group members will discuss their critiques, which they have completed in advance, of the work submitted by one or two writers the previous week. (Depends on the length of the submissions.) One person talks at a time. When the whole group has completed their critiques, each writer can respond with answers to any questions asked and ask for clarification or ask questions regarding any critiques. Previous submissions are always available at a locked site online, currently a closed GOOGLE group.

• What to bring:

Completed critiques, which can be oral, a written response, or comments written directly on a printed copy of the submission. The written comments or critiques are given to each of the submitting writers at the end of the meeting so that they can refer to them later. Submitting writers probably want a pen and paper or copy of their own submissions to jot down notes or questions as the group discusses their work.

• Important to know:

Members should read the submissions completely and prepare critiques in advance of the meeting time. The schedule is available every week for writers to sign up for critique slots. Each writer can sign up once every three to four weeks depending on the number of requests. EVERY group member is required to sign up for critique at least once every eight to ten weeks and every writer scheduled for critique must attend and critique others at least twice in the month preceding their own.
