Spark Code Retreat

Apache Spark is a framework for lightning fast cluster programming. It can work on top Hadoop HDFS, Amazon S3, but also local file system for quick prototyping.

We will do some hands-on lab on Apache Spark, including:

1/ Quick (re)introduction to Scala

2/ Playing with Spark REPL for simple tasks

3/ Spark stand alone for real application (a simple item to item recommender engine, TBC)

Do I have to pay something ?

In order to make sure that we don't get hungry during the session, we will have some breakfast and lunch. Last year, the food became an important factor for the activity. Therefore, to make sure that we don't have such problems, we would ask a participation of 15 Euros.
