I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou
Details
Hello,
Eric Jerome Dickey's Cheaters scored a mediocre 6.7/10 last night at The Roundhouse.
After putting it to the vote, in June we will be going for I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.
Of the author, Wikipedia says:
With the publication of I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Angelou publicly discussed aspects of her personal life. She was respected as a spokesperson for Black people and women, and her works have been considered a defense of Black culture. Her works are widely used in schools and universities worldwide, although attempts have been made to ban her books from some U.S. libraries

Synopsis:
In this first volume of her six books of autobiography, Maya Angelou beautifully evokes her childhood with her grandmother in the American south of the 1930s. She learns the power of the white folks at the other end of town

It's time to try something new and as 'autobiographical fiction' this is it!
Make sure you have read the book and bring a suggestion for the Group to read ahead of the July meeting for us all to vote on.
£1.50 fee is to help with the organiser's meetup.com costs.
Bring your pub money but you don't have to bring a copy of the book.
Best wishes,
David
