Hack for RVA

Hack for RVA is where Richmond comes together to solve our cities biggest challenges.

Hack for RVA is a civic hackathon that brings together technologists, nonprofit leaders, designers, storytellers, and community members to co-create solutions for Richmond’s most pressing challenges. Grounded in the Mayor Avula’s seven pillars—spanning opportunity, equity, safety, education, housing, health, and economic vitality—Hack for RVA centers lived experience alongside technical skill to ensure solutions are not just innovative, but relevant, equitable, and usable.

Unlike traditional hackathons that prioritize speed or code alone, Hack for RVA prioritizes people, place, and purpose. Participants work across disciplines to prototype ideas that reflect the realities of Richmond neighborhoods, elevate community voices, and strengthen civic systems.
