Smuggler's Cove-Palos Verdes Peninsula

Details

I've been wanting to do this one for a while, so a Sunday in July seems perfect for it.

As of this writing, I've never done this hike but it seems pretty straightforward. We hike down the road and cross PCH to the ocean. Find the caves and that's the extent of it.

3 miles down and 3 miles back. It's gorgeous!

6 miles RT with elevation gain 1500 ft. This is an upside down hike-go down first to the ocean. Wet your feet and play around in the cove. Then climb back up. Refreshing!

What to bring: lots of water (at least 2 liters), sunscreen, hat, hiking boots, snacks.

It's not a shaded hike so we'll be out in the sun the whole time. Please be prepared for a very hot day and some sweating! We can refresh ourselves in the water and cool off before going back up. Please be aware that we will do all of our climbing at the end of the hike. Some folks don't like doing this type of hike, so I hope everyone is reading this PLEASE!

Directions to trailhead:

The trail starts at the end of Crenshaw Bl. (by Del Cerro Park) in Rancho Palos Verdes.

From anywhere up here get on the 405 South toward SANTA MONICA.

Take the CRENSHAW BLVD exit, EXIT 39, toward TORRANCE.

Turn RIGHT onto CRENSHAW BLVD.

Go to the end of CRENSHAW by Del Cerro Park. Click on the link below and look for the red teardrop. That's where we'll meet.
