Hike:Palo Comado/Cheseboro Canyon Loop

Details
Get a great workout while enjoying friends and nature! I need a local hike so I can make Valorie's Light the Night Walk the same evening. Join us for both! (I've got to keep the group small because this is a little quiet neighborhood we're starting from.)
This is an enjoyable 7 mile hike in a beautiful area.
We'll hike the Palo Comado Trail to Shepard's flat and then loop back around to the trailhead via Cheseboro Canyon Trail.

Look at the map link above, find the end of Sunnycrest. That's where we'll meet.
I'll collect $1 at the trailhead.
Hiking Level: Moderate
If you want to bring your dog, it's fine as long as the pooch is leashed.

According to etreking.com), "this area is the northernmost section of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. It is from these hills that water in the canyons flow to the Pacific. The Chumash Indians lived in these canyons for thousands of years. Many trails within the canyons were original Chumash trails before expanded by cattle ranchers. "There are several unique facts regarding these canyons. Cheseboro Canyon just 4 miles from the San Fernando Valley has the largest concentrations of birds of prey nesting areas in the US outside of Alaska. The Valley Oak tree the largest oak native to the United States and possibly the world live in these canyons in what might be the largest southerly stand of trees left."
DIRECTIONS:Take 101 and exit on Kanan Rd (exit#36 on 101 Freeway). Go north on Kanan Rd for about 2 miles and then turn right on SunnyCrest drive. Keep driving on SunnyCrest until the road curves to the left. By then you will see me and the trailhead gate. There are several trailheads along the road before you get to me. DO NOT STOP AT ANY OF THE TRAILHEADS ON THE LOWER PORTION OF SUNNYCREST. WE ARE NOT MEETING THERE. You will see our trailhead when the road is curving to the left.
Park your car on the side of the road.
Parking is free.
