Looking for a hike on Father's Day? Great day for a hike near the ocean with amazing views!

This is one of my all time favorite hikes and it will be gorgeous. We'll hike the Ray Miller Trail to the summit for a spectacular ocean view.

We'll do about 8 to 9 miles.

Please be prepared for some elevation gain.

Please know your abilities before signing up to hike. This is for skilled beginners with a positive attitude to intermediate hikers.

Please bring for the hike: A lot of water, sunscreen, appropriate clothing for morning hiking.

Sorry, no dogs allowed as this is within the state park boundaries.

Directions to the Ray Miller Overlook Trailhead.

To get to Ray Miller Trailhead drive west on the Pacific Coast Highway, 22 miles from Malibu Road to La Jolla Canyon.

Those coming from the Ventura area, will find it 4 miles beyond Las Posas Road. It is located across PCH from the western end of Thornhill Broom State Beach.

Parking Information

If you park in the lot, a fee is charged, so make sure to bring (I believe) $4 for the box. Drive about 400 yards up the canyon and park in a paved lot on the left.

Parking is also available for free on PCH.

Water is available in the picnic/parking area; restrooms are just a few yards up the trail.

I'll collect $1 at the trailhead.
