Move with MADD, Kakaako

This is our third go round "walking the shoe", and talk about fun!

Basically you walk around this course, in the shape of a show - 3 times. There are volunteers: handing out water; cheering on the walkers; and playing music. Also, sadly, there are victim stories lining the walking path.

Alice, member & co-host, sent me a text heads up, so we'll be raising money for MADD through "Team Alice & Lyle". I met both Alice and Lyle through volunteering at the Pantry; so if you have volunteered there in the past, you might see some familiar faces.

"Walk Like MADD" is the local office's only fundraising event. The event will be held at Kaka'ako Waterfront Park. Their local goal is to raise $120,000. All money raised supports services and programs provided in Hawaii. Consider "walking like MADD".

Last year, our team was one of the top three fund raisers, so we got some free stuffs. Lyle was our secret weapon because he made a very generous donation.

When you sign up for this event, then register for a minimum of $25; you'll get a t-shirt. When you register, you'll have the option of signing up "virtually", no need walk; but you still can get a t-shirt.

Here is how to register for "Team Alice & Lyle":

2. Click on the "Join Team" link to the left;
3. Create an account (if you don't have one);
4. Fill in your personal details, including how much you want to donate ($25 minimum 😊). Don't forget your t-shirt size;
5. Pay;
6. Now you are part of the team!

This is such a cool event: you get to support a worthy cause; you get a t-shirt; there is plenty of water & snacks handed out; you get cheered on by bands and various volunteers; you get to enjoy the park's scenic view; and wait for it . . . . you get prizes too!

Please note: Participants may sign up online until the night before the event. You can also sign up the day of the event, however you aren't guaranteed to get a T-shirt. Same day registration starts at 7am.
