43nd Okinawan Festival (evening), Hawaii Convention Center

Details
The Okinawan Festival is held both Saturday**(1)** & Sunday, but as I did last year, I'm just attending the Bon Dance portion. This part of the Festival has typically been free, but I noticed there is no mention of this on their website (so you might have to pay a $10 fee to get in).
Come join me to celebrate Okinawan culture, along with ono grinds (if you can get there before they sell out).
Here's a tentative schedule for this year's Bon Dance
- 6:05pm YOUNG OKINAWANS OF HAWAII
- 6:35pm AIEA TAIHEIJI YAGURA GUMI (set 1)
- 6:45pm HAWAII SHIN KOBUKAI
- 7:10pm IWAKUNI ODORI AIKO KAI
- 7:35pm AIEA TAIHEIJI YAGURA GUMI (set 2)
- 7:50pm HAWAII EISA SHINYUU KAI
- 8:15pm KACHASHI - Ryukyu Koten Afuso Ryu Ongaku Kenkyuu Choichi Kai USA/Hawaii
Here is the full Program (stage, both days) schedule.
(1) Carole posted an event for the morning festivities. Her event runs from 10am to 1pm. Celebrate Uchinanchu (うちなんちゅ), Okinawan food, dance and history.
About the festival:
Okinawa Festival started in 1982 by the Hawaii United Okinawa Association, the Okinawan Festival celebrates all things Okinawan and brings together Okinawans and Okinawans-at-heart. Our theme of "Sharing Uchinanchu Aloha" is embedded in everything we do. Join us for the ono food, beautiful performances, educational cultural exhibits and much more.
The CPB Foundation is one of many supporters of this event.
Although much of the Festival is free, there is a $10/$16 daily/two-day general admission fee to the exhibit halls. Here's where you can get tickets. There are senior discounts and children under 12 years old are free.
🅿️🚌
