🎷Jazz Night and Dinner for 8 at The Edge (at 31 North) - Chinatown (6)

Another jazz night at The Edge (opened Summer, 2023), I'll describe their menu as asian fusion (I have a photo of the dinner menu* below). I personally devoured the kale noodle salad w/ chicken last two times.

Chris (band leader and saxophonist) texted me about his upcoming gig, hence the post. This time it’ll be a quartet with sax, guitar, keys, and bass. No drums (Dae Han can't make it). Music starts at 6pm, but we'll get settled early to get our orders in.

Last time (July, 2025) I reserved a table of 14, but this time I'm making the reservation for 8, to limit no-show risk. I'll be hesitant to add spots this time, since there's a $10 penalty for no-shows. Don't ask.

A little history:
Long before meetup, for two years I trekked from Kapolei to Chinatown, to get my weekly hit of jazz at Dragon Upstairs (btw, we're trying to get Dragon on the schedule too, so stay tuned). Covid came & went, and gone were Friday night double sets of jazz, with the Chris Yeh Band (sax, keys, bass guitar & drums). I got to thinking, what ever happened to Chris and his alto sax?

He turned up at Da Spot in Mōʻiliʻili with his quintet (adding a trumpeter), back in January, 2024. I got the kat's digits & now he lets me know when he'll be in town (he lives in Japan part time). Chris plays various venues, and also sits in with other bands. This time it's a dinner gig.

Jazz musicians live a nomadic life here in town, but if I can figure out where the jazz will be - in a timely manner - I'll post more jazz events. Come chill with me.

$5 cover charge (as of May, 2025). Edge honors individual checks, with the cover being added to your bill. They also add 3% when paying with a credit card. The entrees are modestly priced, based on the dinner menu (see below*). Chris and the band also have a tip jar near the stage, so bring a little "tipping" cash.
