Showcasing Brynner's 1956 Best Actor OSCAR-winning performance and winner of five Academy Awards, ‘The King and I’ remains one of the most celebrated movie musicals of all time. Featuring the unforgettable Rodgers and Hammerstein score, this film is based on the real-life story of English school teacher Anna Leonowens (played by the inimitable Deborah Kerr). The story follows the spirited schoolteacher as she arrives at the Royal Court of Siam to educate the King’s children, sparking a powerful cultural clash, unexpected friendship, and touching romance.

From the Theatre: The Hawaii Theatre and the Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation are offering the community a film series to provide ... cinema lovers an opportunity to enjoy a morning of camaraderie with coffee, snacks, and a classic movie. Over the course of the year, we’ll present this series and offer tickets on a “pay what you can” basis. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. so patrons can enjoy complimentary pastries from Zippy's and coffee from Pōʻai by Pono Potions. Showtime is 11:30 AM.
