Share the LoVE: An SDBloggers Event
Hosted by SD Bloggers
Details
This event is possible because of the support of Uber San Diego (@Uber_SD).
We've all personally experienced the intersection of music and social media. From Solider Boy "Crankin' That" on YouTube, to PSY reppin' his "Gangnam Style", more music videos (and parodies) are dictating the memes of pop culture and leading the charge of viral videos.
There's no doubt the two mediums are inextricably linked and our next meetup is meant to explore that relationship while making a little music of our own.
Part concert, part fundraiser, part hangout–our next meetup will be a first of it's kind. We're inviting Dawn Mitschele (@DawnMitschele (http://www.twitter.com/DawnMitschele)) to share her story and her music (http://www.dawnmitschele.com/) exclusively with our group.
Dawn is my favorite San Diego artist and I've been wanting to get her involved with the group for a long time. She approached me with an idea about how we can help share Matt Wadleigh's story (http://www.mylovesign.com/About_Us.html) with our members.
Matt and Dawn were united over a common quest to 'share the LoVE' with others through a simple gesture. Matt made a "LoVE" sign in the parking lot of a Dave Matthews show in San Diego and soon thereafter he started taking them to every Dave show he could. Upon Matt's untimely death, other fans in the DMB community picked up the tradition as a way to honor Matt, 'sharing the LoVE' too. Matt never intended to start anything, which makes the fact that he was acknowledged by Dave for such a humble act even that much more beautiful. Now Dawn carries the tradition of the 'LoVE sign' in her music and helps promote his foundation whenever she can.
Dawn has prepared a very special music video honoring Matt which she plans to debut at our meetup and to the rest of the world using Google Plus Hangouts On Air. After the music video, she's going to perform a handful of her favorite songs for the group. Once the musical portion of the evening is over, we'll have our traditional networking where bloggers get a chance to mingle with each other and connect in real life.
The meetup will be hosted at Seven Grand San Diego. Seven Grand (@SevenGrand (http://www.twitter.com/sevengrand)) has a brand new private concert venue to host our group and we will be broadcasting the event live on YouTube through G+.
We certainly hope you can join us for what we will be a very memorable meetup.
