Coral Pink Sand Dunes, UT

Coral Pink Sand Dunes, UT

Details

This will be our 5th Annual Coral Pink for the 4th trip. We love going up there for the weekend of the 4th of July, usually we are the only camp in the Meadows. You can come up when you want to, it doesn't have to be on Thursday.

If you have not been to Coral Pink before, it has a little bit of everything. Dunes and trails. We may even bring the dirt tires this trip and explore more of the trails. There is always a possibility of a return day trip to the dinosaur tracks. This is a fun trip that takes most of the day and finding the dino tracks is like a super cool Easter egg hunt.

The temps during this time of the year can get up into the 90's and usually a 2:00pm thunder storm rolls through. For me, I love riding in the rain at Coral Pink!

Some of the things that you need to remember for Coral Pink Sand Dunes:

All campfires MUST be in a container or fire pit. No on the ground campfires.

Your ride must be registered.

No fireworks are allowed.

Children must be 8 yrs of age to ride anything. And 8 - 15yr olds MUST complete this course before operation OHV's -----> Know Before You Go! Certification Test (http://stateparks.utah.gov/resources/ohv/education)

You are going to be at 6,000 ft elevation, so you may need to rejet your ride.

Here is another link on Utah ATV Laws: Utah OHV Laws (http://www.atvutah.com/utah_ohv_laws.htm)

If you want to stay in the campground, reservations are required in advance, see information link below.

The Meadows is where we camp and it is a big open area for dry camping. And no reservations are needed :)

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: Via Cane Bed Road (Cane Bed Road has 4 miles of passable, but rough road, rough meaning some washboard, pot holes, silt spots) Its a slow roll for that 4 miles. This is the way we go... If you go this way the Meadows is AFTER you pass the State Park campgrounds. You will need to start to keep an eye out to your right after you pass the information signs turnout and you pass over the cattle guard after the State Park campground.

or to avoid Cane Bed Rd, some chose to go through Kanab, UT This however adds about 40 miles onto your drive time. Especially Moho drivers... If you go this way the Meadows is before the State Park campgrounds and you will see the large open area to your left.
