Last Tuesday Every Month: RESTORATIVE YOGA

Details
The last Tuesday of each month this class becomes a Restorative Yoga class. Restorative yoga often uses props to allow the body to melt into a state of complete relaxation in each pose. A typical one hour class may have 6-10 poses as we are in each position for longer periods of time. Unlike yin or Hatha or deep stretch, there is no active or passive stretching involved: rather it is a time to let the body completely relax so as to integrate into the fascia and architecture of the body.

About Cara: Cara is a believer in movement therapy and is a success story for the forgotten psoas release, having found the somatic exercise related to the psoas muscle in 2015, which she has incorporated into a daily/weekly practice since January 2018 after a low-back injury. After being a long distance runner for over 20 years and beginning a yoga and bellydance movement practice in 2009 – and now, having spent the last year immersed in Somatic Movement Practice – she can now look back to realize the state of chronic pain her body was in for decades and now feels better and younger than she did ten years ago! Inspired by the ability to literally unwind years of pain caused by the body’s chronic contraction of certain muscles, she now teaches somatic movement practices to help others remember how “to be” in our bodies, feel happiness/joy in our bodies, and release stagnant emotion/energy to recreate the state of being in complete harmony and homeostasis. Cara is a certified Clinical Somatic Educator/Healer through the Somatic Movement Center, 2019.
