Reasonable Ontology Templates (OTTR) is a language with supporting
tools for representing and instantiating RDF graph and OWL ontology
modelling patterns. It is designed to improve the efficiency and
quality of building, using, and maintaining large RDF/OWL knowledge
bases. It has a simple but powerful foundation and supports many
sound language and modelling principles such as: abstraction
mechanisms, hiding complexity, compositional patterns, uniform
modelling, don't repeat yourself, and separation of concerns. This
allows interaction with the knowledge base at different
abstraction/complexity levels. The different abstraction levels makes
it easier for non-semantic web experts to engage in the development
and use of the knowledge base. Furthermore, it allows for ontology
experts to perform sophisticated maintenance tasks.

OTTR templates has recieved positive feedback from academia and
industry, with best paper awards and nominations and industry pilot
users of our open source software.

The meetup consists of two parts. The first part will be a lecture
style presentation where we will motivate the use of abstractions and
modelling patterns for RDF/OWL knowledge bases, introduce the basics
of OTTR, and show examples from on-going industry use cases. The
second part will be a hands-on session where participants will learn
how to create and use OTTR templates. For this session we will use a
web application, so to participate you only need to bring a laptop
with a web browser installed.

The presenters are the main developers of OTTR and have extensive
knowledge and experience from semantic web research, industrial
deployments and teaching university courses.
