Hold the date! The Boston Analytics Professionals meetup group is holding our first meetup on June 19th, 2013 from 6-9PM at Hack/Reduce (www.hackreduce.org).
For our first meetup, let's talk about how to get past some of the tougher bumps in the road to big data analytics.
Specifically, let's discuss:
How to turn a data analyst into a junior data scientist (without six months of training) How to make big data analytics more accessible with a simple methodology and building block approach Hadoop by itself isn't enough for the enterprise. What else is needed? An expert with big data analytics, Hadoop and security experience will talk about the current state and where the technology needs to go.
Speakers will include Dr. Milorad Krneta, an analytic pioneer and researcher, who will cover our first topic. We’ve also secured industry veteran Walter Maguire to talk about new methods and tools that can make today’s analysts immediately more efficient at analytic discovery and mining across large datasets. If there’s time, we may even do a live demo. Finally, we're really excited to announce that Adam Fuchs, CTO of Sqrrl, will be speaking. Previously at the NSA (National Security Agency), Adam has done some amazing stuff, and was one of the founding contributors to the Apache Accumulo project.
The tentative schedule is:
5:30-6:00 Registration
6:00-7:00 Speakers
7:00-9:00 Networking and Social time
We'll also be raffling off an iPad Mini w/ wifi to one lucky attendee!
Invite your friends and colleagues to join the Meetup and share ideas for effectively implementing advanced analytics.
