Daniel Drake graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Business followed by a Masters of Business Administration in 1996.
After college Dan became the founding partner of Jayhawk Capital Management, an equity based long/short hedge fund. During his tenure, the firm’s US funds grew to over 150 million dollar in assets. Dan was the responsible partner for founding the firm’s flagship product, The Jayhawk China Fund, which grew to a billion dollar fund.
After Jayhawk Capital, Dan helped to start another investment fund, TalMor Capital in Boulder, Colorado.
In 2001 he founded his current company Liberty Asset Management, LLC. Liberty is focused on the purchasing of distressed residential and commercial properties and distressed debt portfolios. In addition to real estate and debt, Dan spends a portion of his time evaluating and purchasing private investments for the firm.
Currently Dan focuses the majority of his time on Mojack Distributors. Mojack is a manufacturer and distributor of lawn and garden, hunting and sporting goods items that are sold in Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Sears, Wal-Mart, Lowe’s, Bass Pro, Cabela’s, Gander and other independent retailers totaling over 7500 retail locations and 2500 other independent dealers. Mojack was named to Inc. 500 as the 208th fastest growing company in the US and has been named the fastest growing company in Kansas each of two years in a row as the business has developed. Dan’s primary responsibility as Chairman is to oversee operations and sales as well as focus on strategic initiatives to grow the product line and customer base.
