One answer to "What's to be done" regarding Humanity's Transition is the UNs 17 Sustainable Development Goals - adopted in 2015.

The plan was to have these goals met by 2030, but progress is way off target (Progress chart.) I don't believe it's possible to predict how off-target we are, but one organization did that in 2019, and came up with 2073 as the date. In one sense, that's a bit of meaningless estimate, but it does have meaning in that it is shocking.

On a regular basis, there are calls for all nations to "double down" on their efforts - but nothing of sufficient impact happens: pretty much like climate change - which, of course, is one of the SDGs. It's obvious that our System as it stands is simply not up to the task, so we need to ask:

"What is it about the System that makes it impossible to meet the SDGs?"
In fact, more fundamentally, we should ask:

"What is it about the System that created the need to HAVE SDGs in the first place?"

In a well-functioning society, the disfunctions that the SDGs seek to address should, on the whole, not arise.

One answer to this is to have a precursor to Sustainable Development Goals:
Inner Development Goals

(If you came to our Meetup on 28 September, you may spot that SDGs are about the Right Hand Quadrants, and the IDGs are about the Left Hand Quadrants. What we discussed at the meeting was that we always need to integrally address ALL Quadrants. The SDGs were always insufficient and partial .)

Hanzi Freinacht has written a great article about this: Acceptance, not Tolerance, Is The Elixir of a Good Society (15 min read).

The title may not seem to align with all this, but take a look and you'll see that it does.

And, as always with Hanzi, he introduces a wonderful twist: in this case the idea of Acceptance. This twist will rather nicely slot into our forthcoming event: A Discussion of What's to Be Done (Part 2) (date to be announced). (We did Part 1 on 11th Jan).

I do hope you can make it. This should trigger some really interesting discussions - including, perhaps, some challenges to the above analysis!

How to find us in the Red Lion

Go upstairs, walk through the room at the top of the stairs and into the mysterious area hidden at the end on the right.
