Whether you’ve been introduced to the concept of a decentralized internet through the most recent season of HBO’s “Silicon Valley,” or are a stalwart of the movement and have been working on decentralized applications and protocols for years, one thing remains clear: the decentralized Web is real, and gaining momentum.
Beyond that, many projects are turning towards decentralized solutions to solve the rising tide of challenges of Web2.0, the Web we use today. Today’s Web is not private, reliable or free from censorship.
Decentralization offers security. By distributing data, processing and hosting across millions of computers worldwide with no centralized control, a new Decentralized Web has the potential to be open, empowering users around the globe to control and protect their own personal data better than before.
Positive Blockchain will be teaming up with the Berlin branch of the Decentralized Web community, pioneered by the Internet Archive and Jolocom, to host an exploration into decentralization. With an interdisciplinary roster of speakers, we’ll start by defining decentralization, its many benefits and challenges, before breaking into a “Science Fair” during which decentralized projects will be providing hands-on opportunities to test and toy with the tech and answer any further questions on their vision for a decentralized web.
