I sent my annual $15. to Arbor Farms Foundation and they sent me 10 blue Spruce which are about 12" tall.  I will be glad to donate them and also bring them to Thurman to plant them wherever they are wanted.  Arbor Day Farms is a great resource.  Linnea

Subject: [912-iowa] Trees To Thurman: UPDATE

Hello Everyone!
We are off to a great start with The 912 Project's Trees To Thurman campaign! We have several volunteers to help transport ourtrees once we have a collection together and we have others that have expressed interest in being in Thurman to help plant! For those unaware, Thurman was devastated by the recent volley of tornadoes and has been left with a splintered and barren landscape. One thing they said they will really miss is the trees and we hope to provide a cure for that!

Thanks to Anita Howell and her her efforts, she and her "God's Freedom" Adult Church Group have made our largest donation yet! The $200.00 they gathered has given us some great momentum. We have also been working with the Mid-America/Council Bluffs tree program and if they have any left over trees Tomorrow, they will be offering us 6 ft trees for $30.00each! We have a couple volunteers to help carry them away and stage them until we go to Thurman. Nebraska 912's Glen Flint is also working on some promising leads for saplings and our very own Scott Hosteter is organizing an effort with His Holy Church Lowes Hills!
There is a list of nurseries on the new web site that have phone numbers we can all call and ask if they have pledged any trees yet! If you know of a grower or nursery that can help, we will be glad to post their logo and web info!

May 12th is going to be our planting festivities in Thurman! If you do not have plans, please join us for what is sure to be a day that we can all be proud of! Please share this project with your church groups, friends and neighbors! Scott Voorhees has already mentioned this on KFAB and we are going to see if we can get some promotion leading up to planting day! Keep Up the Great Work and thanks to Everyone!
