Sunday Afternoon Walk @ DW Field Park

Join us for a motivating walk at DW Field Park. It's been awhile since we've walked at DW Field Park. For those attending the SSDOMG Anniversary Brunch this will be a nice way to walk it off.

DW Field is an urban park with a big looping road for walking or biking. Half of the road is is reserved for driving and other half is reserved for pedestrians (but usually the gate is closed on holidays allowing pedestrians access to the entire path). In case you haven't figured it out, this is a paved road and it's relatively flat with few slight hills (inclines/declines).

There are two loops that go around a lake and reservoir with swans and ducks which makes it a pretty little park with paved and smooth trails. The park trails are very scenic, passing ponds filled with lily pads and geese. There are also a few "waterfalls" where water rushes over rocks. The trails are all paved and are shared with other walkers, cyclists, people walking dogs, and families with strollers. The path does have a section that's a hill, but for the most part, it's a pretty easy route. The pathway surrounds a reservoir and pond on 700 acres of land in Brockton, near the Avon line.

The total distance around both loops is 3.71 miles (approx. distance of each loop is half that). Usually takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes from the parking lot and back.

Inclement Weather: Heavy rains will cancel. We will walk if it is overcast or there is a slight drizzle. Please plan to bring a lightweight jacket with a hood just in case. (We will do my best to notify everyone if this event is cancelled by 3pm on the day of the walk.)

Directions: Take Route 24 to exit 18B (Route 27 N, Stoughton). Travel on 27 for 0.3 miles. Bear right to continue (http://www.trailboundhounds.org/DWField.htm) on 27 N at the first light. Travel 0.3 miles. Turn right on Oak St Extension at the 2nd light and travel 0.2 miles (passing Bickford's on your right). Continue on Oak St for 1.1 miles. You will pass Westgate Pavilion entrance on your right, a handful of condo/apartment complexes on both sides of the road and further up on your left, you will pass the Fuller Craft Museum. Make a left turn at the light into DW Field Park at the light after you have passed the Fuller Craft Museum.

Just past the park entrance is the first parking lot to the left where you should park your car.
