Let's Meetup and Start Node Hacking

Details

We're going to be hosting our first NodeSchool and hack night, the date is very much in flux. This will be for those new to Node.js and a way to get the STL chapter kicked off.

What is NodeSchool? These are in-person hosted workshops in which workshoppers are used as curriculum and mentors help attendees work through the challenges. NodeSchool has installable choose-your-own-adventure style lessons to learn how to use Node.js, npm and other related tools by writing code to solve realistic problems. I would urge you to head over to http://nodeschool.io/#workshoppers and get started.

The lessons run in your terminal and work on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

As a student you are required to bring your own laptop (Mac, Linux, or Windows). Go ahead and if you can please make sure that you install Node.js, npm, and the Nodeschool lesson that you wish to do. Wifi will be available but if we get a good turnout it will become pretty hard to be constantly connected, so I would urge you to get setup before you come.

Mentors will be on hand to help you get setup, ask questions, and assist you in your Node.js adventure.

At this first meetup, we will be officially supporting Javascripting and LearnYouNode courses, though you are welcome to choose any workshopper you like and we will be there to answer questions.

This meetup will be limited due to network limitations.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to shoot me an email or hit me on twitter @rwbennet. Want to mentor, sponsor or just generally volunteer? Shoot me an email and we'll talk, all help is welcome!

Cheers,

Rob
