Cleanweb June - The story of our stuff

This month, we're looking at the devices we use to access the web, and we have speakers from both Fairphone and the Restart Project, telling us about making this part of the web more sustainable..

Those lovely people at Forward Technology have offered the use of their fantastic events space, and they're laying on pizza and drinks for all coming along - huzzah!

Schedule

7:00: Doors open and registration

7:20: Introductions and community announcements

Got a request for help with your project? Looking to hire someone who gets the web, and sustainability? We set some time aside each week for precisely this!

Let us know at info@cleanweb.org if we can help you spread the word.

7:40: Restart Project - Saving electronics from landfill with parties

Ugo and Janet from the Restart project are telling us their story of setting up a charity to change people's relationships with their stuff, and create a culture of repair around electronics, working with eBay and Patagonia.

8:00: Break for refreshments and mingling

8:20: Fairphone - journey of a smart phone that puts social values first.

Karien Stroucken from Fairphone is telling us about how an awareness project about conflict minerals turned into social enterprise to design, create and produce its own smartphone.

8:45: To the the Brewdog!

Curiously generous last minute sponsors welcome as ever…

What if I can't make the event?

If you can't make it for this date, don't worry! We will be streaming this event live, and putting videos online like last month.
