for Mapping in Drupal 7 -- Using OpenLayers

Renee Stephen of http://www.reneestephen.com/ will be presenting on:

  • Create interesting, attractive location-based maps
  • configure a map to use different layers or tilesets (even add your own!)
  • use maps to input location-based data
  • create maps in Views that show multiple location markers
  • maps with themeable pop-up dialogues and links to content pages.
  • Modules needed: OpenLayers, Views, Leaflet, Address, and the Geofield CCK field.

About Renee:

  • Renee is a CMS Developer and Webmaster at UBC's Department of
Computer Science, and co-owner of Panic Stations Media, a tiny
multimedia consulting and development shop. She has spent over six
years designing and deploying Drupal sites for mid-size departments
and businesses, and has spent ten years working as a web developer in
the education and non-profit sector. Last May she spent a month in
Botswana, Africa, deploying a Drupal site on behalf of a support
organization for kids with HIV/AIDS. As part of that project, she
implemented OpenLayers so that geographical info could be easily added
    by novice users.

Drupal Showcase/Lightning Talk: We want you to showcase your latest project or share a great development tool with our group. Come prepared to give a short 5 minute talk on any Drupal related topic. If you want to use a laptop to demo a website or admin panel, please be sure you have the necessary cable to connect to the overhead projector. Please contact Katy@seascapewebdesign.com to schedule your showcase.

Drupal Q&A: Bring your questions on anything related to Drupal from how to do something technical in PHP to what modules are needed to implement a feature you need.

Cost: While there is no cost for this event, it would be great if you can come prepared to order something (some of us order dinner, some just drinks) along with a 15% gratuity as we really want to keep up a good relationship with ABC as they've been great in allowing us to book their conference room.
