San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station = Fukushima U.S.A.?

Safety issues at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) will be the topic of discussion. After being hit by both a devastating earthquake and tsunami, the reactor meltdown at Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant continues.

Could that happen here? Both plants sit at the ocean's edge and on top known earthquake faults. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has release a report on "Lessons learned from Fukushima". Some commissioners think action needs to be taken to make our nuclear plants safer, others just want more studies.

Gary Headrick, founder of San Clemente Green.org will share what citizens in San Clemente are doing and led the discussion about what we can do. SONGS is only twelve miles from our backyard.
